The national championship dreams came to an end in a hard fought, scrappy game in the National Semi-finals in Atlanta.  Palmer eventually fell to the Providence Rugby Club 26 - 13 on an extremely hot day.  Providence went on to win the title.

This group of young women set a program record for wins, Midwest Championships, reginal championship and first time berth in the final four.  The group played together for three years, missing a full season due to covid cancellations.  Their run began in 2019 with the teams first Midwest Championship and undefeated season that fall only to have the spring season cancelled due to the pandemic.  With the full team back in the fall of 2020, they were unable to defend their league title due to the cancelled league season.

As is the course here at Palmer, every three months we lose players to graduation.  Several players graduated from the outstanding 2019 squad but a solid core remained and a nice crop of new faces came on the season, started school and for the most part took up rugby.  The mix of new and old compiled their second undefeated season in 2022 and charged through the playoffs in the spring of 22 to advance to that first final four opportunity.

With the success, the team is being moved to a reconstructed hybrid schedule in the fall of 2023 in the Midwest Region.  They will play a mix of DI and DII teams.  The new structure will allow a playoff path in to one or the other division for the national playoffs, depending on how their standings at the end of the regular season.

We hope to build on the momentum from the last couple of years and continue to see the success these teams have achieved.  Great Job!
